Marijuana Use and Mental Illness



Dr. Laurie Berdahl and Dr. Brian Johnson join the program to discuss teen and young adult use of marijuana and it's links to mental illness. On the show we will be looking at:

• How young marijuana users have an increased risk of depression and suicide
• How increased aggression in small children has also been found with prenatal exposure
• How marijuana use can predispose some people to react violently or commit violent crimes
• How marijuana use among men is linked to teen dating aggression

DR. LAURIE BERDAHL obtained her MD from the University of Iowa. She has published articles in the journals: Medical Economics & Parenting: Science and Practice. Dr. Berdahl & Dr. Johnson are proud parents of their two adult children.

DR. BRIAN JOHNSON received his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Iowa. He is a licensed child & adolescent psychologist & full professor at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC)

Their book: "Warning Signs: How to Protect Your Kids from Becoming Victims or Perpetrators of Violence and Aggression" is the couples 2nd book together, their first was the award winning book titled: 7 Skills for Parenting Success.
